MBB: FSU Drops WVWC, 94-70
Fairmont State once again used a balanced attack to defeat WV Wesleyan, 94-70, in the final game of the GST/FSU Tip-Off Classic. Thad McFadden scored 22 points to lead all scorers, and Steve Custis added 20 for the Falcons. Ian Grady notched his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds as FSU improved to 2-0 on the year.

WBB: Gannon Downs Fairmont State, 71-65
Ashley Vavrek scored 20 points but it wasn't enough as Fairmont State fell to Gannon, 71-65, in the final game of the Concord Classic in Athens, W.Va. Cara Waybright scored 17 points, and Gabby Gattuso and Samantha Wanichko each contributed eight points for FSU in the loss.

WBB: Falcons Fall To Armstrong Atlantic
Fairmont State's women's basketball team dropped a 71-58 decision to Armstrong Atlantic in its season-opener against Armstrong Atlantic at the Concord Classic. Gabby Gattuso led FSU the team with 16 points, while Molly Kiger and Sasha Simmons each added 10.

MBB: Falcons Roll Past Ohio State-Newark
Steve Custis led four Fairmont State players in double figures with 19 points and helped lead the Falcons to a 102-64 win over Ohio State-Newark. FSU held just an eight-point lead at the break, but out-scored the Titans 60-30 in the second 20 minutes of action.

Fairmont State Wins 3 of 4 in Double Dual
The Falcons traveled to Frostburg, Maryland to swim against Frostburg State and Wheeling Jesuit in a short course meters double-dual.
The women, led by an NCAA Division II 'B' qualifying standard performance by freshman Cassie Lutz won both competitions, while the men were able to pick up a win over Frostburg State.

Volleyball: Bell Named To All-WVIAC Second Team
Junior Micah Bell was named to the All-WVIAC second team, the league announced today. Bell, who earned second team honors a year ago, led Fairmont State with 333 kills on the season, and averaged nearly three kills per game.

Volleyball: FSU Falls In WVIAC First Round
Fairmont State's volleyball season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Davis & Elkins in the first round of the WVIAC Tournament. The Senators defeated the Falcons 25-19, 25-13 and 25-22.
FSU finishes the season with a record of 13-23.

Football: Four Falcons Earn Conference First Team Honors
Four Fairmont State football players received first team all-conference recognition, the league announced on Tuesday. Wide receiver Perry Baker and left tackle Matt Khouri were named to the first team offense, while lineman David Hill and linebacker Nate Black were named to the first team defense.
Including second team and honorable mention selections, FSU had 14 players honored.

MGolf: Twice As Nice! FSU Wins Second Straight WVIAC Title
Fairmont State's men's golf team went wire-to-wire to claim the WVIAC championship for the second straight year, and the third time in four years. After holding a five-shot lead after two rounds, FSU posted the best round by any team in the tournament on the final day to secure the championship.

The Fairmont State University Athletic Association (FSAA) has announced this year’s inductees into the athletic Hall of Fame. The Class of 2008 includes Wayne Denham (basketball), Matt Fortier (football), Jack McIntyre (basketball), Roy Michael (football), Tim Murphy (basketball) and Luc Tousignant (football). The honorees will be inducted at a ceremony sponsored by R&E Electric on Friday, Oct. 24. Also honored that evening will be the men's golf and baseball teams from 1958 -- the first Fairmont State squads to ever compete at the national championship.

Join The Tuition Waiver Matching Challenge
At the 46th Annual Spring Scholarship Banquet, athletic director Rusty Elliott unveiled a new fundraising effort: the Tuition Waiver Matching Challenge. Elliott's goal is to have 100 people commit $1,000, which will then be matched by President Dan Bradley. The first person to step up to the challenge was Bill Stewart, class of 1975.
Gifts are tax-deductible and go to support the general athletic scholarship fund.
Currently 28 people have committed to the effort, meaning the effort is 1/4 the way complete in under a month.
