Mariners Team Report Dec 2, 2008
It was 13 months ago that then-manager John McLaren and then-general manager Bill Bavasi brought in a veteran coaching staff that would, it was hoped, be just what an up-and-coming Mariners team needed.
The Mariners, however, proved to be down-and-falling. McLaren lost his job. Ultimately, so did his replacement, Jim Riggleman. Bavasi exited before both, and his interim replacement, Lee Pelekoudas, while remaining in the organization, didn't remain as the GM. Now that pattern has trickled down to the coaching staff. New manager Don Wakamatsu was given permission by new general manager Jack Zduriencik to bring in his own coaching staff, and so those most of those who hadn't already gotten new jobs—third base coach Sam Perlozzo has joined the Phillies, first ...More |
